Another restaurant participating in the Kansas Food Bank’s ICT Restaurant Week is HomeGrown Wichita. It’s got locations at Bradley Fair, Naftzger Park and next to Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa at the southwest corner of N. Maize Rd. & W. 29th St. N.
For those that don’t know what HomeGrown does, it’s basically an upscale diner with breakfast, brunch, sandwiches, coffees and juices, etc. I swung by since I am working with Kansas Food Bank to get the word out and to get some good eats.
I ordered the Salsa Verde Pork & Egg, which came with slow-roasted shredded pork, rosemary potatoes, Monterey Jack cheese, salsa verde, pico de gallo and two eggs. I ordered the eggs over medium. I also ordered the Jolly Green juice which comes with apple, cucumber, celery, spinach, kale, grapes and lemon.
Both the food and drink were excellent and it felt good eating such a great meal knowing that Homegrown was going to use some of the money I spent to help out folks that need a helping hand. For every dollar raised for the Kansas Food Bank, four meals can be provided. That’s a big freakin’ deal.
