The owner of Picasso’s Pizzeria in Wichita in the Delanoict District opened up Flatlanders Brewing in August and it is right next door to Picasso’s. Actually, the buildings are connected by an adjoining door, so you can order a pizza in Picasso’s and walk through the door to Flatlanders and enjoy a pint. Hang out in the brewery or pizzeria.
This is my first time reviewing Picasso’s and my first time at the new brewery. Flatlanders has a pretty cool second floor patio with a bad-ass view. But let’s first talk Picasso’s Pizzeria.
I am very appreciative of what Picasso’s does for the community through its work with ICT Food Rescue. For those that do not know, ICT Food Rescue takes food from restaurants and other places that would otherwise be thrown away at the end of the day to deliver to places like homeless shelters, rescue missions, etc. And Picasso’s is a massive supporter of this program. In fact, it was one of the first restaurants to join the cause after ICT Food Rescue was founded in 2016. And Picasso’s has done even more with ICT Food Rescue lately. In 2025, Picasso’s and ICT Food Rescue established the “316 Pizza Project” where at the end of the day, Picasso’s takes surplus “Ginormous” crusts that had been prepared in the morning, but never used, and rather than throw them away, the pizzas are loaded with toppings, baked and boxed up by the Picasso’s staff for ICT Food Rescue to pick up. And Picasso’s is only paid for the cost of the toppings. And they do this every single day whenever there are extra crusts. So, a “ginormous” shout-out to Picasso’s.
As far as the brewery, I thought the beers were tasty. I ordered the Beaches in Kansas IPA, which is a west coast IPA and the Something in the Haze IPA, which is an east coast IPA. Both were excellent, but my preference was the east coast haze. I think I like east coast IPAs over west coast.
As for the pizza itself, I enjoyed all of them. I ordered a slice of the “Heart Attack” to munch on, and also the Cubist Pizza and Picasso’s Pizza (basil pesto, feta cheese, Romano cheese, tomato and spinach) to take back to Doug’s basement. The Heart Attack comes with Canadian bacon, beef, bacon, Italian sausage and pepperoni. I didn’t get to try the Cubist or Picasso’s FRESH in the restaurant, but they reheated well in my easy bake oven and Gertie was a big fan of the Cubist, which comes with ricotta, provolone, parmesan and oregano.
