Everyone knows when you go to Wichita, a sloppy Joe is “the thing” to get. It’s common knowledge. It’s actually the Sloppy Joe capital of Kansas according to many. So, I was excited when I saw the July special at Artichoke Sandwichbar was the Sloppy Jill, which is quite similar to her cousin, Joe.
I will tell you, my Jill was SLOPPY. So, sloppy. But I kind of like it, ya know. She came with seasoned beef, bacon, Guinness sauce and shredded cheddar cheese with chips (I picked Jalapeño chips). I do think the bun could have been toasted more. But overall I really enjoyed it. And I loved using the chips to scoop up the slop that Jill left behind.
Love that Artichoke Sandwichbar is doing a new sandwich every month. Smart move. We’ll see you again.
P.S. Artichoke has two locations. The OG spot in Downtown Wichita at 811 N. Broadway Ave. and the second location in northeast Wichita at 29th & Rock at 2959 N. Rock Rd.
