It’s real easy for me to get caught up in wanting to check out the newest and coolest restaurant. It really is. I see everybody else checking out that new shiny object. And sometimes those shiny objects invite me out to check it out, and sometimes not.

But being TKG has NEVER been about the newest and coolest. Those spots don’t need TKG and frankly I have other shit to do. No. It has been about one thing and one thing only since day 1 — the forgotten. The restaurants that are there and great and just need someone to remind people “Hey, this spot is great and needs some love.” That’s what it’s about.

And that is the reason I swung by Bann Thai cafe (5255 N. Maize Rd., Maize, KS 67101). Wichita By E.B. joined me too. I think he has a soft spot for this place.

I ordered the Sukiyaki (the noodle dish), which comes with stir-fried clear noodles, shrimp, calamari, chicken, egg, onion & cabbage in red totu sauce. I really enjoyed it. I also decided I wanted to try the omelette and the steamed dumplings. For those that do not know, a traditional Thai omelette has an almost soufflé type center with crispy edges. It was tasty as well.

This post is what my blog is about, so let me say it. Bann Thai is a great spot that desperately needs some love. Now, go love the hell out of it.
