I am a fan of Fizz Burgers & Bottles in Northeast Wichita. It’s owned (or was owned — maybe some of the “kids” have ownership now) by Dave and Pat Bergeson and it’s a family run business. Both Dave and Pat actually went to undergrad at WSU. Anyway, there’s a couple of things I love about Fizz.
First, it’s those pillowy French fries. They are probably my #1 favorite fries. I don’t know if the peanut oil that Fizz fries the hand cut potatoes in has any bearing or not. I read online that peanut oil doesn’t “break down,” as much as neutral oils and that causes the natural potato flavor to be more enhanced.
Second, the sauces are just awesome. They make a bunch of them in-house and there is a total of thirteen available. Unfortunately the fries are so damn good that you don’t need the sauces, but you’ll still want them.
And finally, there are just a lot of items made in house and not provided by Sysco. For example, Fizz makes their own homemade pickles and so many other items.
By the way, on this visit I ordered the Blue Burger (1st food photo) and the House Burger with Boursin Cheese (2nd and 3rd food photo). I was a big fan of the Boursin cheese on the burger. The creamy texture complimented the burger well.
Did I mention I love the fries?
