Hope, the best doggo ever, reflected on what led to her coming to live with The Kansas Gastronomist. She really did not remember going two weeks without any food as a puppers. She didn’t even really remember going to The Kansas Humane Society. But she did remember the day she went to live with one of the KHS volunteers — Cholett Bucl and her family — becoming friends with their doggo Stella. And she remembered going and staying the night at TKG’s house for an “introduction” or something like that. She wasn’t good with big words. But that was a funny first day, oh so many years ago.

You see, that first day TKG wasn’t paying her no attention. Just watching that stupid thing with moving pictures and noise. But she knew how to win his heart even though she was just a little thing. She jumped right onto that red couch and laid her head on TKG’s lap…despite his objections. And it was immediate.

He began to pat her head. Then the “you’re a good girl”started coming. Then he said “are you TKG’s little girl?” That’s when she knew. She was home. And she would let TKG continue to live with her in her new home.

NOTES: Why am I doing this Shelter Slumber Pawty event for Kansas Humane Society? Well, duh. It’s because in order to continue doing what KHS does, like introduce people to the doggos and kitties that are often “the forgotten,” they need money. And frankly, I owe Kansas Humane Society and everyone that cared for Hope, a debt of gratitude.

Thank you to everyone that has donated to this cause so far. If you have not and want to, check the link in the comments. And be sure to look for some posts or stories or whatever on Saturday night, April 18th when I will be “slumbering” with another shelter dog that is just like Hope — hoping for a new momma or dad.

In this crazy world too often filled with bullshit and despair and uncertainty, don’t lose Hope.
