This is the fifth year in a row that I have blogged about the St. George Orthodox Christian Cathedral – Wichita, KS’s Annual Lebanese Dinner (or Big Dinner), and this is the 91st year that St. George has had it.

I don’t go for the Salad, Pita Bread, Cabbage Rolls, Ruz and Yaknee (Rice and Green Beans), Kibba (the meat dish) and Baklawa (the pastry). Don’t get me wrong, it’s freaking great.

But the real reason I go is because I love being seated at a table with random folks I might not otherwise meet. Like the young couple with the kid crawling all over mom’s head like a cat😂. Or the other couple that recently traveled to Italy. Or the couple whose favorite Mediterranean in town is M.I.F. Deli.

Because that’s what the Lebanese Dinner at St. George (7515 E. 13th St. N) is all about. The people. Not the food. The food is just a tasty excuse.

I made it there yesterday, but it is happening again today (Sunday, October 11th) from 12pm-7pm. It’s $23 for a ticket and IMO it is worth it. You can get it to-go if you want, but I recommend going for the community and staying for the food. It’s better that way.
