If the only way for you to get to Wendy’s Kitchen Jamaican Cuisine is to jump on a damn bobsled like those dudes from Cool Runnings…well, do it. Because this Jamaican food truck in Wichita is legit.

Fert The Foodie and I swung by at noon on a recent Saturday, which was the agreed upon and negotiated time. I went with the Braised Oxtails with Rice and Peas, Baked Mac & Cheese and Festivals (the fried dough) for my sides. Fert went with the Jerk Chicken with Rice and Peas, Cabbage salad and Sweet Plantains. One thing I love about eating with fellow foodies is we share our meals with each other, but one thing I hate about eating with fellow foodies is we share our meals with each other. And the fall-off-the-bone oxtails braised in a savory, deeply seasoned reduction was so freaking good that I didn’t want to share. But to be fair, Fert’s Jerk Chicken was hella good too. But those oxtails were “to die for.” I absolutely devoured that plate of food.

Apparently Wendy grew up and lived in Jamaica where she would cook for locals and tourists, so she knows her craft. She just launched the truck around 6-weeks ago and is currently parking in northwest Wichita at the southeast corner of the intersection of W. 53rd St. N & N. Meridian Ave. However I was told that they plan to move a little bit south. But for the time being, that is where you can get some of the best Jamaican food in Wichita on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 1pm-8pm.

Shout out to Gastrofan Jerry Payne for buying my meal! That was very nice, Jerry, but it doesn’t mean I’m gonna stop telling you how to live your life.
