It was fifty-four years ago that the infamous Watergate scandal occurred. And the movie “The Godfather” was released. Oh yeah…and the not-for-profit Wichita Festivals Inc. (WFI) launched the first ever Wichita Riverfest. Pretty cool it has been going on for so long and is thriving. And it’s happening now through Saturday, June 6th.

I rolled by the Riverfest Food Court in collaboration with Kansas Media Collective — an organization trying to do cool shit in Wichita — to shine a spotlight on the thing that people do not know or forget. What’s that? Well, it is FREE to get into the Food Court at Riverfest during lunch next week Monday-Friday from 11am-2pm. In other words, you do NOT need a button. You know why? Cause Riverfest wants you checking out the Food Court, of course. Still, you could buy a $20 button (adult) or $10 button (kid) to enjoy all the other cool shit. And there is a ton of cool shit.

I picked up some ribs and fries from “Big G’s Famous BBQ,” some Chicken on a Stick and Lo Mein from “Chan’s Chicken on a Stick,” and a Marinated Pork Quesadilla from Wichita’s own and beloved Tacos tj 664. I can’t believe I had never had the Chicken on a Stick. I ate with Fert The Foodie and he acted like I was stupid that I had not tried it before. I felt stupid too. Really enjoyed that dish as well as the Quesadilla.

I made sure to take some photos of all the food vendors in the Wichita Riverfest Food Court (which is over on the east side of Century II Performing Arts & Convention Center).

Get it.
