Angela Martinez founded Latinfest-ICT in Wichita because she wanted to bring Latinos together — she observed too much divisiveness amongst the diverse cultures and wanted to have a fun event where people could come together and experience the food, music and culture of all (or many) of the Latin American countries.

And the 8th Annual LatinFest is happening TODAY (September 19th from 11am – 11pm) at The Coleman Company parking lot at 250 N. St. Francis Ave. in Old Town Wichita. If you attend, it isn’t just authentic Mexican tacos (though that would be reason enough!). But Honduras, Colombia, Venezuela, Guatemala, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Argentina and probably more, are all represented within the food, vendors, music, and entertainment.

When I swung by I picked up a Carne Asada Dog from A Gushto Papá (Mexican) pop-up and then split a Puerto Rican dish with a dweeb I was with. It was Roasted Pork and Mofongo from a food truck called Caybana . By the way, the owner of “A Gushto Papa” tells me you can find her on Fridays and Saturdays over by Mort’s Martini Bar.

And of course I had to get some Agua Fresca cause it’s hotter than Dante’s inferno out there.

FYI, it does cost $5 to get “in the door.” Also, I have the schedule contained in the photos and will put it in the comments.
