Around 2,400 years ago, when Aristotle was 18-years old, he went to Plato’s Academy in Athens where he spent 20-years as a student, researcher and teacher. This scientist, philosopher and biologist truly changed the world. The guy even taught Alexander the Great.
And for thousands of years before and thousands since, humans understood that education is one of the most important tools for survival and for thriving. That education was not only about educating the mind, but to put it in Aristotle’s words, educating the heart.
Until now. See, there is this pervasive chatter I have seen over the last decade or two. Or maybe less, I don’t know. But this chatter looks down upon education. Actually, sometimes this chatter is even contemptuous toward education. It’s weird to me. It’s strange.
Because, as Aristotle wrote, “…the fate of empires depends on the education of youth.”
