I love that image of John Brown. You know, that dude was hung for his crimes, but before he was hung, he wrote a note and handed it to the dude hanging him. It said “I, John Brown, am now quite certain that the crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away but with blood.”
Pretty controversial figure, for sure. But he was right about this nation’s original sin and greatest moral failure.
I’ve never asked the folks at Wichita Brewing Co & Pizzeria why John Brown was picked as the “mascot.” But I guess it doesn’t matter. I kind of like it. Almost as much as I enjoyed the “Go Hazy Folks” IPA.
