Here is something I have never talked about. When I was a kid, my mama made me serve meals at the Salina Rescue Mission.
It’s ironic because we needed help growing up from others. Family. Church members. Others. Not in a bad way, but a true way. I have posted before about this, but we had food stamps at different points and despite needing help at different points, my mom believed in helping other people (and still does). Because guess what? Other peeps got it worse. And that is ingrained in me, for good, better or worser.
So, every single year when the Kansas Food Bank, or its agents, ask me to help promote ICT Restaurant Week, I immediately agree. Period. Hard stop. Duh.
So, here’s the deal. Kansas Food Bank is having its “ICT Restaurant Week” coming up this Sunday, September 20th through Saturday, September 26th. In short, if you go to the below restaurants, a part of what you spend will go to the Kansas Food Bank to help hungry people. Each spot has something different going on. Some spots have “roundups,” some spots are donating dollars for every specific entree it sells and some are just doing a straight percentage of sales.
Either way, eating this upcoming week at the below restaurants support others eating. And that’s cool.
Thanks to The Arcade, Bar Louie, The Belmont KS, Chicken N Pickle-Wichita, College Hill Deli and Catering, The Depot Wichita, Dillons, FioRito Ristorante, First Mile Kitchen, Greater Grounds Coffee & Co, HomeGrown Wichita, Just A Sip, Kelly’s Family Diner , Larcher’s Market, Livingston’s Cafe, Mokas Coffee, NICHE, Nortons Brewing Company, Papa’s Ice Cream & Treats, The Popcorner, Sheet’s Creek, Slim Chickens, Small Cakes Cupcakery, Wichita Brewing Co & Pizzeria, Wichita Wagyu – East/Wichita Wagyu – West and Ziggy’s Pizza.
Maybe I will see you out there.
