I really need to get to Malaysia Cafe in Northeastern Wichita more often. It’s been too long.
I ordered the Hokkien Char Mee for my main. It’s a popular noodle dish in Malaysia and Singapore that comes with round noodles stir-fried with bean sprouts, carrots and cabbage and then a sauce that is made with four ingredients — light soy sauce, thick soy sauce, mushroom soy sauce and oyster sauce. I went with the “combination,” so that means it had beef, chicken and shrimp. Personally, I really enjoyed this dish. It had great flavor and was cooked well.
But there is no doubt that the steamed dumplings (my appetizer) might have stolen the show. Those pork dumplings were some of the best I have ever had. It absolutely is deserving of the coveted Gastro Mastro Award, which is an award more highly sought after than Michelin ratings.
Malaysia Cafe is located near E. 21st St. N & N. Rock Rd. in Wichita at 7777 E. 21st St. N. You should definitely give it a try.
