I rarely talk about my “good deeds.” Because frankly, I do not respect people that do and you should not respect me if I do. It is a super loser move IMO. Good deeds are meant to be done in the quiet. Not the limelight of social media.
With that being said, I need to tell you about my “attempted” good deed because it serves a higher purpose that is not about me.
A week or so ago it came to my attention that the Wichita Animal Action League was having a “spay and neuter” event with around twenty volunteers participating. As an aside, WAAL managed to spay and neuter more than fifty pets! Good job WAAL and volunteers! But I decided I wanted to donate some drinks and food to the volunteers that day as a “thank you” for doing the hard work.
So, I reached out to Sugar Sisters Bakery owned by Kelli Sykes to see if I could pay for a bunch of cinnamon rolls and to Mochinut West Wichita to see if I could pay for a bunch of drinks. And have both of them deliver the same. First, Mochinut gave me a huge ass discount. I did not even realize it at the time until I crunched the numbers later after the drinks were delivered. But Mochinut gave me at least a 50% discount on the drinks, if not more. Then Kelli Sykes, despite my pleas and requests, REFUSED to send me an invoice or her Venmo, etc. so that I could pay her. I paid $0 for those cinnamon rolls or the delivery.
So, you know how I said I despise losers that talk about their good deeds? I do. But I am a fan of talking about other people’s good deeds.
So, Sugar Sisters Bakery and Mochinut – thank you for your good deeds this past week and being a part of the Wichita community and giving back in the quiet. You deserve a shout out. And yes, Sugar Sisters makes some DANK cinnamon rolls. She made me extra rolls that I shared with multiple folks including my sister from another mister Annette Lawless and of course my kind of girlfriend Gertie. Everyone loved them. In the photos you will see six different types – Apple Pie Rolls, Cream Cheese Rolls, Brown Butter Rolls, Blueberry Rolls, Bougie Maple Rolls and Orange Rolls. And I do not have any photos of the drinks from Mochinut, but they delivered Lemonade, Cherry Berry, Peach Mango and Grapefruit Orange Refreshers with added Redbull to keep the volunteers’ energy up.
Make sure and support the businesses in your community that quietly do good deeds. They are worth a lot. And they deserve it. Just like this shout out.
